New Testament: Col 2.23
To read the Bible in a year, read Colossians 2 on October 10, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020
By Don Ruhl
Since the first century people have been adding to the word of God, making some kind of practice or clothing or something else a mark of a faithful Christian. However, Paul said:
These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.
– Colossians 2.23
Some people act as though God did not say enough in His word, so they add their unwritten laws, and such, and if you do not keep what they say makes a faithful Christian, they do not want anything to do with you.
Other people act as though God said too much, and they dismiss parts of His word and they will fight you if you try to hold them to it.
Questions:
- What do you do with God’s word?
- Is it enough just to take His word and nothing else?
