Old Testament: Gen 19.4–5
To read the Bible in a year, read Genesis 18–19 on January 7, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021
By Don Ruhl
The sin of violence took over the world in the days of Noah, but the sin of fornication, specifically homosexuality took over the city of Sodom:
Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house. And they called to Lot and said to him, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally.”
– Genesis 19.4–5
The desire for homosexual gang-rape had so conquered the city of Sodom that all the people from every age group wanted to participate in this violent sin.
As you know, the Lord then destroyed the city so much so that it does not exist today.
Watch out for sin, for it will rule over your life if you do not push it out of your life.
Questions:
- From what places in the city did the men go to Lot’s house?
- Why is a sexual encounter called “knowing” in the Bible?
