Old Testament: Lev 13.47–52

It seems every part of the world at sometime or another has had a dreaded disease, and the dreaded disease in the Middle East during the time that Israel escaped from Egypt was leprosy. Leviticus 13–14 showed Isarel how they and their priests were to deal with this horrible problem. Even fabric could have leprosy in it:
“Also, if a garment has a leprous plague in it, whether it is a woolen garment or a linen garment, whether it is in the warp or woof of linen or wool, whether in leather or in anything made of leather, and if the plague is greenish or reddish in the garment or in the leather, whether in the warp or in the woof, or in anything made of leather, it is a leprous plague and shall be shown to the priest…He shall therefore burn that garment in which is the plague, whether warp or woof, in wool or in linen, or anything of leather, for it is an active leprosy; the garment shall be burned in the fire.”
– Leviticus 13.47–52
Praise the Lord that this is not the major problem that it once was, although some parts of the world still have a problem with other forms of leprosy.
The Lord knew what the disease was and how to deal it. When Israel followed His instructions, they could live peaceful and secure lives, even free from disease.
- What is the most dreaded disease where you live?
- What kinds of diseases have you had?
- Did you seek the Lord during those times?
