Old Testament: Lev 19.15
To read the Bible in a year, read Leviticus 18–19 on February 14, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021
By Don Ruhl
We have the tendency to favor one class of people and to show disfavor toward the opposite class, but the Lord told Moses:
“You shall do no injustice in judgment. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty. In righteousness you shall judge your neighbor.”
– Leviticus 19.15
To show favor to the poor seems right because they are poor, but the poor sin just like anyone else. Therefore, do not show partiality toward the poor.
To show favor to the mighty seems right because they are mighty and must have done something right. However, they sin just as the rest of the population does.
Therefore, we should judge strictly on the evidence.
Questions:
- Do you favor some group over another?
- What do you do when judgment has not gone your way?
