Just how popular was Jesus?

New Testament: Mark 3.20

To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 3.1–21 on February 19, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021

By Don Ruhl

We know that Jesus was popular during His ministry since people went to Him from all over the land of Israel and from the eastern side of The Jordan. Mark gave us a clue as to just how popular Jesus was, when he wrote:

Then the multitude came together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.

– Mark 3.20

Jesus and His disciples could not even sit down to eat, because people were thronging them. Such popularity is hard to picture, yet, later the crowds would turn against Him.

Questions:

  • Have you been popular in the past?
  • Did the popularity go away?
  • Then what did you do?
