What do you think of your government taking a census or registering you? Listen to what happened during the first century:
And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.
– Luke 2.1–3
All the Jews did as the Roman government commanded, including a young couple by the name of Joseph and Mary. They complied with Rome and we are glad they did, for then the Christ was born where Micah the prophet had said the Christ would be born.
Questions:
- Does your attitude toward the government align with the parents of Jesus Christ?
- Who ordains that your government exists?
