New Testament: Luke 18.34
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 18.18–43 on April 22, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021
By Don Ruhl
Jesus said plainly that he would be delivered to the Gentiles (Romans), be mocked, insulted, spit upon, scourged, and killed. Nevertheless, Luke wrote:
But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know the things which were spoken.
– Luke 18.34
Perhaps they thought that it was all symbolism or something else other than the plain truth as it appeared to be, because they could not imagine such things happening to him. Yet, those things did, and they later realized the truth, and once that happened, the world would never be the same.
