New Testament: John 4.31–34
To read the Bible in a year, read John 4.31–54 on May 13, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021
By Don Ruhl
Jesus had been talking with a woman and when she left, His disciples returned from buying food in town and urged Him to eat (John 4.31).
Then He said, “I have food to eat of which you do not know” (v. 32). The disciples asked one another if someone had brought Him something to eat other than what they had just brought to Him (v. 33).
Then He put their minds in the spirit and on the true food:
“My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.”
– John 4.34
Jesus cared more for doing the will of God than for eating food. He was not hip on the latest place to eat, nor was He finicky about His food, but doing the will of God drove Him on.
Questions:
- What drives you daily?
- Does doing the will of God or eating occupy your mind more?
