Calling upon the Lord at death

New Testament: Acts 7.59

To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 7.44–60 on June 26, In the year of our Lord 2021

By Don Ruhl

As Stephen was dying, he did something amazing, yet, it should not be amazing for a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ:

And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”

– Acts 7.59

Stephen thought so much on the Lord that when he died, the Lord opened the heavens that he might see the Lord. Stephen did not then beg to continue to live, but asked the Lord to receive his spirit.
