Old Testament: Isa 42.1
To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 41–42 on October 9, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021
By Don Ruhl
We think of Jesus as the Son of God, but the Bible also calls Him the Servant of God in the Book of Isaiah:
“Behold! My Servant whom I uphold,
My Elect One in whom My soul delights!
I have put My Spirit upon Him;
He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles.”
– Isaiah 42.1
As the Servant of God, God upheld Jesus because God’s soul delights in Jesus. To top it all off, God said that He put His Spirit upon Jesus. Therefore, He would be the One to bring justice to the Gentiles.
Questions:
- What does it mean that God’s soul delights in Jesus?
- How did God uphold Jesus?
