To read the Bible in a year, read Jeremiah 36–37 on November 3, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021
By Don Ruhl
People have been trying to destroy the word of God for a long time. They use all kinds of methods. A common one is to teach against it. However, from time to time, the devil persuades people to destroy copies of it by burning it or some other means.
A king of Judah took what is the first thirty-five chapters of the Book of Jeremiah, cut it up with a penknife and threw it all in the fire. However, this happened next:
Then Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who wrote on it at the instruction of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire. And besides, there were added to them many similar words.
– Jeremiah 36.32
Not only did the Lord have Jeremiah rewrite all that had been destroyed, but he added more to it! The word of God abides, but man perishes from the earth.
- Have you disregarded the word of God in the past?
- If so, what brought you back to it?
