New Testament: Jam 5.17–18
To read the Bible in a year, read James 5 on November 23, In the year of our Lord 2021

We tend to put people we admire on a pedestal. Yet, if they are truly admirable people, they know that they are just like anyone of us. Of Elijah, the Bible says,
Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.
– James 5.17–18
Elijah was a man. Period. Nevertheless, he prayed to God, at the orders of God, and that for which he prayed happened, even the three-and-a-half-year cessation of rain and its restart. James made this point to let us know that when we pray, God hears us and answers our prayers according to His will, just as He did with Elijah.
Questions:
- How often do you pray?
- Do you believe that God will hear you as much as He did Elijah?
