If we do what is wrong and suffer for it and endure the suffering, is that commendable? Peter wrote,
For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully. For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.
– 1 Peter 2.19–20
If you go about doing good, as Jesus did, and then suffer for it, enduring it patiently, the Holy Spirit says that is commendable in the eyes of God.
- How do you react when you suffer for having done something good?
- Do you endure punishment for wrong-doing?
