Old Testament: Mic 5.10–15
To read the Bible in a year, read Micah 4–5 on December 20, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021
By Don Ruhl
Micah prophesied that Israel would become like dew from the Lord when they turned their hearts to him fully, but for Israel’s enemies, the prophet spoke of the bad that would come upon them:
“And it shall be in that day,” says the LORD,
“That I will cut off your horses from your midst
And destroy your chariots.
I will cut off the cities of your land
And throw down all your strongholds.
I will cut off sorceries from your hand,
And you shall have no soothsayers.
Your carved images I will also cut off,
And your sacred pillars from your midst;
You shall no more worship the work of your hands;
I will pluck your wooden images from your midst;
Thus I will destroy your cities.
And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury
On the nations that have not heard.”
– Micah 5.10–15
He also said that he would cut off the cities of their land, throw down their strongholds, cut off their sorceries, soothsays, carved images, sacred pillars, and their cities. He would do whatever it would take to keep them from worshiping their images.
He would cut off anything in which they had put their trust.
Questions:
- In what do you trust?
- If you said God, is it obvious by how you live?
