Old Testament: Gen 41.37–38
To read the Bible in a year, read Genesis 41 on January 17, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
Pharaoh had a dream and only Joseph could interpret the meaning, and then Joseph gave advice on how Egypt could avoid the disaster that the dream said was coming. When Pharaoh heard the interpretation and Joseph’s proposal on what to do about it, Moses wrote:
So the advice was good in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of all his servants. And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?”
– Genesis 41.37–38
Joseph provided an interpretation of the dream that made sense to Pharaoh, and if the interpretation was correct, then what Joseph advised also seemed logical. Moreover, Joseph said nothing that indicated he wished to profit from his own advice.
Having considered those things, Pharaoh realized that the best man for the job stood right before him. He recognized that God was with Joseph, so how could he choose anyone better than Joseph?
