New Testament: Matt 13.58
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 13.33–58 on January 18, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
Jesus went to his hometown, but the people gave him a reception that you would not expect. They could have boasted to the world that the Son of God grew up in their town, but they were offended at him. They knew him as a little boy and watched him grow up. They just could not accept that he was the one doing all those miraculous works.
As a result he did not do many miracles there, as Matthew wrote:
Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
– Matthew 13.58
They did not restrict his miraculous power, but they did not bring people to him for a healing because they did not believe in him. That makes sense. Why would they bring people in need of a healing if they believe him to be a fraud?
Questions:
- Has someone from your town made it big in the world?
- How strong is your belief?
