Old Testament: Lev 25.23–34
To read the Bible in a year, read Leviticus 24–25 on February 17, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
God is the Landlord of Earth. Therefore, he can decide who dwells where and what the conditions are for when those people reside in that land, and so on. For Israel, when they moved into the Land of Canaan, he said:
“The land shall not be sold permanently, for the land is Mine; for you are strangers and sojourners with Me. And in all the land of your possession you shall grant redemption of the land…”
– Leviticus 25.23–34
The rest of the text explained how land that was sold could be redeemed and it explained somewhat about the Year of Jubilee.
Here is the point: While we may not live by the land laws of redemption that the Lord gave to Israel, the Lord still owns the earth, including where you live!
We should therefore, honor him with our land.
Questions:
- If the Lord owns the place where you live, how should you treat it?
- Do you honor the Lord with everything that you own?
