How people sometimes respond to truth

New Testament: Mark 6.24

To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 6.1–32 on February 25, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

Some people to whom you speak the truth will so love the truth that they will be willing to die for it, but others will so hate the truth that they would be willing for you to die for showing it to them, as John the Baptist found out.

He rebuked Herod, who had married his brother’s wife, and she did not like what John said. Therefore, later when her daughter danced for Herod and it pleased him, he offered to give her virtually anything:

So she went out and said to her mother, “What shall I ask?”  And she said, “The head of John the Baptist!”

– Mark 6.24

It has happened before with many saints of God, especially the Lord Jesus Christ, as you know, and it will happen again.

Questions:

  • Have you always responded favorably to the truth?
  • Do you fear to tell people the truth?
