Magnify the Lord

New Testament: Luke 1.46–47

To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 1.24–56 on March 19, In the year of our Lord 2022

By Don Ruhl

We often see people in the Bible glorifying God when they see or experience something good from Him. Mary serves as a wonderful example. Gabriel the angel had just appeared to her, revealing that she would bring the Son of God into the world and when she went to visit Elizabeth, whom the angel had said was also pregnant, Elizabeth spoke of Mary in glowing terms, showing that she knew whom Mary would bring into the world. Then Mary did something wonderful,

And Mary said:

“My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.”

– Luke 1.46–47

You can see the reasons for Mary’s magnification of the Lord God. We rejoice with her that He had chosen her for such a majestic purpose.

Questions:

  • What reasons do you have for magnifying the Lord?
  • Have you taken the time to praise Him for those things?
