New Testament: Luke 4.24
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 4.1–32 on March 24, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
If one of the prophets had come into your town, how would you have received him? What if that prophet had been from your town, how would you have received him? Jesus went to Nazareth, the town where He grew up, but they rejected Him as a prophet and certainly as the Son of God. He said in response to them:
Then He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own country.”
– Luke 4.24
Perhaps the people of Nazareth thought that they would have fully accepted the prophets if they had come preaching to them, yet, they rejected the one great prophet, the Son of God!
Questions:
- Why do you think that a prophet is not accepted in his own country?
- Do you reject preachers today when they speak the truth?
