Old Testament: 2Sa 8.1
To read the Bible in a year, read Second Samuel 7–9 on April 23, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
The Philistines had been an endless problem for the children of Israel, but there was one king, who, after hundreds of years of Philistine troubles, finally subdued the Philistines:
After this it came to pass that David attacked the Philistines and subdued them. And David took Metheg Ammah from the hand of the Philistines.
– 2 Samuel 8.1
David may have been motivated to subdue the Philistines because they had killed his best friend and the king of Israel. Or just that the Lord wanted them subdued or both of those things may have moved David to do what had to be done.
Questions:
- Can you find Metheg Ammah on a map?
- Where did the Philistines live?
