We are adept at knowing the things of this world. Let us turn that skill to seeing the things of the spirit. Consider this example. Jesus once said to his disciples:
“Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!”
– John 4.35
They knew about farming. They could look at a field and easily figure out how long until that crop was ready for harvesting. We can do the same things with either crops or other things that we know about this earth.
Then he told them to lift their eyes and look at the fields, and see another crop that was ready for harvest. He meant the crop of the souls of men and women.
Start today to look at things of the spirit. When you see something of this world, relate it to a spiritual truth and see what the Lord wants you to do.
Questions:
- Do you look at this world with the eyes of the Spirit?
- Is Christianity only for what we do at worship services?
