What happens when you speak the truth

New Testament: John 10.41–42

To read the Bible in a year, read John 10.22–42 on May 27, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

John the Baptist came into the world with one job: To speak the truth in regard to the Messiah and to identify him that all might believe in him. He did his job well, as John the apostle attested:

Then many came to Him and said, “John performed no sign, but all the things that John spoke about this Man were true.” And many believed in Him there.

– John 10.41–42

You don’t have to do miracles, although you should do good works, but be sure to speak the truth, even as John the Baptist did, for if you do, many people will believe in Jesus.

Questions:

  • When you speak to people about spiritual things, what do you seek to achieve?
  • What do people hear you saying spiritually and doctrinally?
