Loving All the Way

New Testament: John 13.1

To read the Bible in a year, read John 13.1–17 on June 2, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

Jesus spent three and a half years with twelve men and He loved them all, even to the end. John wrote of the last night that Jesus was with them:

Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.

– John 13.1

That love included Peter, who would deny Jesus in a few hours, and Judas, who would betray Jesus shortly.

You are a disciple of Jesus Christ. That means He loves you, but it also means you must love as He did, loving all your brothers and sisters in Christ to the end, even the ones who have hurt you. Focus on that today, just trying to be like Jesus and see where it leads you.

Questions:

  • Are there people whom you find it hard to love until the end?
  • What do you do about them in your life?
