Old Testament: 2Ch 24.2–3
To read the Bible in a year, read Second Chronicles 23–25 on June 7, In the year of our Lord 2022

Why do we do the right thing? If someone with influence in our lives has motivated us to do what is right, will we still do the right thing after that person is gone? Read carefully what the Bible says about King Joash:
Joash did what was right in the sight of the LORD all the days of Jehoiada the priest. And Jehoiada took two wives for him, and he had sons and daughters.
– 2 Chronicles 24.2–3
That first sentence hints that something not good will happen. Somehow we know that it means after Jehoiada died, Joash did not do what was right in the sight of the Lord. And that is what happened.
Questions:
- Can you continue to do the right thing even if no one is looking?
- Why do you do what is right in the sight of the Lord?
