The beginning of Psalm 111 typifies most of the psalms by declaring praise for the Lord and how the psalmist would praise him: 

Praise the LORD!
I will praise the LORD with my whole heart,
In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation.

– Psalm 111.1 

First, the psalmist praised the Lord by simply saying, “Praise the Lord.” 

Second, he announced the intensity with which he would praise the Lord and that would be with his whole heart. The psalmist knew that halfhearted praise or even praise with most of one’s heart is unworthy of the Lord our Creator. There is only one way to praise the Lord when it comes to the heart: Do it with all your might. 

Third, he would praise the Lord in the assembly of the upright, that is among those who would appreciate and love it. 

Questions: 

• Do you praise the Lord like the psalmist did? 
• Do you ever offer prayers to the Lord without making any requests and only praising him?
