The motive for rebuking

New Testament: 2Co 7.12

To read the Bible in a year, read Second Corinthians 7 on September 15, In the year of our Lord 2022

By Don Ruhl

When you read First Corinthians, you will find out that the church had a lot of problems, but Paul did not write them off, rather he helped them, which included some correction. However, he wanted them to know this:

Therefore, although I wrote to you, I did not do it for the sake of him who had done the wrong, nor for the sake of him who suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear to you.

– 2 Corinthians 7.12

It all came down to showing that Paul’s team cared for the Corinthian Christians in the sight of God. God had touched the lives of Paul and his preaching team, and that moved them to care for people.

Questions:

  • Do you care for the members of your congregation as Paul did the Corinthians?
  • How many Christians care for you, both in your congregation and elsewhere?
