Unknown by face, known by reputation

New Testament: Gal 1.22–24

To read the Bible in a year, read Galatians 1 on September 23, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

Paul’s conversion from a persecutor of the church to the greatest promoter of the church, caused members of the church who did not know him personally, to glorify God:

And I was unknown by face to the churches of Judea which were in Christ. But they were hearing only, “He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith which he once tried to destroy.” And they glorified God in me.

– Galatians 1.22–24

When you become a Christian you will witness many amazing things that will lead you to glorify God. Murderers, drug addicts, thieves, adulterers, you name it, people have turned from ungodly lives and made the God of heaven the only reason that they continue to live and breathe.

When you see it happen, glorify God.

Questions:

  • What caused such a change in Paul?
  • Do you fear those who persecute the church?
