Old Testament: Isa 10.26–34
To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 10–12 on September 27, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
The Lord reassured his people that they did not have to fear the Assyrians, for although they were the rod of his anger against Israel, the Lord would remove the Assryians (Isaiah 10.24–25).
The Lord promised that he would wipe out the Assyrians, even as the Lord wiped out the Egyptians who attempted to cross the Red Sea:
And the LORD of hosts will stir up a scourge for him like the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb; as His rod was on the sea, so will He lift it up in the manner of Egypt. It shall come to pass in that day…
– Isaiah 10.26–34
Guess what? The Assyrians no longer exist! The Lord warned Israel that he would send the awful Assyrians against them, but he also promised that he would remove them.
The Lord keeps his word, whether it is for punishment or for blessing.
Questions:
- How much of the army of the Egyptians survived the crossing of the Red Sea?
- If you follow the Lord, do you believe that he will eventually remove those who oppose you?
