New Testament: Jam 5.19–20
To read the Bible in a year, read James 5 on November 23, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
James ended his letter with something that we should repeat to others, in particular to members of the church who bring back wayward members:
Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.
– James 5.19–20
When we help restore a brother who has gone astray, we have not brought back a brother to a social club, we have saved his soul from spiritual death, and we have covered a multitude of sins.
Therefore, whoever does this work of restoration, we should remind them of what they have done. There is no greater work that we can do.
Questions:
- What do you think when a lost brother or sister returns?
- What do you do to bring the unfaithful back to the Lord and his church?
