New Testament: 1Jo 3.18–19
To read the Bible in a year, read First John 3 on December 4, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
Assuming that you want to know the truth, is there a way that we can assure ourselves that we do in fact know the truth? Listen to what John said:
My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him.
– 1 John 3.18–19
How then can we know that we are of the truth? We can know that we are of the truth by loving in deed and in truth.
We have to do works of love and not just talk about love, such as what I am doing here. Now, I need to get out and show love.
We also have to do deeds that are in harmony with the truth. Therefore, we have to become familiar enough with the word that we know what it is that we should do.
Questions:
- Would others say that you love in deed?
- Would others say that you love in truth?
