What has the truth done to us? Listen to the effect upon the Christians of the first century” 

The Elder, to the elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth, and not only I, but also all those who have known the truth, because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever.

– 2 John 1–2 

John loved the elect lady and her children in truth (the love was holy), and he was not the only one, but everyone who knew the truth, also loved her and her children. From where did this loving-in-truth originate? It came from the truth itself as it lives and breathes in the heart, mind, and soul of those who love the truth. 

What they had then, we can have now, because the truth, John wrote, will be with us forever. We have the same truth they had then!
