Old Testament: Joel 2.18–19
To read the Bible in a year, read The Book of Joel on December 13, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

God used the prophets to tell his people what he thought of them and their ways, which sometimes meant that he was angry with what they were doing. He would punish them, but then he would also use the prophets to explain how he would show them pity, as he did through Joel:
Then the LORD will be zealous for His land,
And pity His people.
The LORD will answer and say to His people,
“Behold, I will send you grain and new wine and oil,
And you will be satisfied by them;
I will no longer make you a reproach among the nations.”
– Joel 2.18–19
Yes, the Lord God demands that we live a certain way, but he also knows that we are dust and he desires to show us mercy when we repent.
Questions:
- Do you repent of your sins?
- What would he take away from Israel among the nations?
