New Testament: Rev 13.3
To read the Bible in a year, read Revelation 13 on December 22, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
John showed us a terrible seven-headed beast that arose out of the sea (Revelation 13.1–2). Then this happened:
And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast.
– Revelation 13.3
Just when the Roman empire appeared to receive a death blow, perhaps the suicide of Nero, the mighty empire came back as powerful as ever and perhaps more so, and then resumed its persecution of the church.
The Lamb of God received a death blow and came back. The Roman Empire received a death blow and came back. Some of us marvel at the Lamb, but many marveled at the Roman Empire. The world does mighty things that capture the hearts of people, but whatever the world does ultimately fades or meets a tragic end.
The Roman beast seemed terrible, but the church prevailed. Likewise, whatever beast threatens us, it shall meet its downfall and the church shall prevail!
- Do you believe the church shall prevail over all of its enemies today?
- Does the world put you in fear?
