New Testament: Matt 9.27–28
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 9.18–38 on January 11, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023
By Don Ruhl
Two blind men approached Jesus that he might have mercy on them and heal them of their blindness:
When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”
– Matthew 9.27–28
Why should Jesus help us if we believe that he cannot? It is not a test of his ability or wisdom, but it is a test of our belief. He knows what he can do, but the question falls on us: Do we know what he can do?
Questions:
- Do you know what Jesus can do?
- Do you turn to him as a first or last resort?
