Jesus gave a parable about a farmer who sowed wheat, but during the night an enemy sowed weeds. Later, as the plants grew it became obvious that weeds appeared along side the wheat. His servants told him what happen and they had a proposal: 

“He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them.’”

– Matthew 13.28–29 

The tares and the wheat needed to grow more so that the reapers might easily distinguish which was what. 

In the same way, the Lord waits until the right time and when that time arrives, he will send Michael to announce to the world the return of the Son of God and he shall gather up all his righteous people, and burn those not belonging to him.
