New Testament: Matt 27.25
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 27.1–31 on February 13, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023
By Don Ruhl
Pilate sought to persuade the Jews that Jesus had not done anything worthy of death. However, they refused to listen to him. Therefore, he told them that he was innocent of the blood of Jesus.
Then Matthew recorded the Jews making this thoughtless statement:
And all the people answered and said, “His blood be on us and on our children.”
– Matthew 27.25
Their blood was on them and their children when the Romans attacked Jerusalem, leveling it and Josephus says that 1.1 million Jews died there.
Questions:
- Are you careful with your words?
- Have you suffered for saying something thoughtlessly?
