New Testament: Mark 10.51–52
To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 10.32–52 on March 5, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023
By Don Ruhl
As Jesus walked by, a blind man found out who was coming his way, and he knew what he wanted from the Lord because he knew of the Lord’s ability. Therefore, Jesus had the man brought to him and asked him a question:
So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.
– Mark 10.51–52
Can you imagine Jesus coming up to you with that question? What would you tell him that he could do for you?
Please think about this before answering that question. We can make requests of the Lord pertaining to our bodies or the bodies of the people we love, and he will consider those requests, just as this incident with the blind man shows.
However, eventually he will cease granting what we want in the body, because it is appointed for us to die. Therefore, such requests in the end will have to be answered, No.
Since our spirits live and grow daily, it might be wise to make more requests for your spirit than for your body.
