Bless the Lord

New Testament: Mark 11.9–10

To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 11.1–19 on March 6, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023

By Don Ruhl

As Jesus entered Jerusalem, the people blessed him and his kingdom, saying:

“Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD! Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”

– Mark 11.9–10

The Lord blesses us and we want him to bless us even more. Therefore, let us just as eagerly bless him as those Jews did.

Jesus is blessed because he came in the name of the Lord.

We bless his kingdom by speaking highly of it, and treating it highly, and by becoming devoted subjects in it.

Questions:

  • What does “Hosanna” mean?
  • How often do you bless the Lord?
