New Testament: Mark 14.72
To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 14.51–72 on March 14, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023
By Don Ruhl
Peter had declared that he would never deny the Lord, but the Lord told Peter that he would deny the Lord three times that night before the cock crowed twice. Then it all happened that night. After Peter denied the Lord three times, Mark wrote:
A second time the rooster crowed. Then Peter called to mind the word that Jesus had said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And when he thought about it, he wept.
– Mark 14.72
Whether Peter realized it or not, when he disagreed with the Lord on whether he would deny the Lord, Peter was claiming to know more than the Lord.
However, this beloved disciple found out that the Lord was right because the Lord knows more than we do!
