Two people love one another and sometimes they, or perhaps only one of them, wants to know all the secrets of the one he or she loves. 

Samson loved Delilah and we assume that she loved him. As you know, Samson was no ordinary man, but had superhuman strength. She wanted to know the secret to his strength: 

So Delilah said to Samson, “Please tell me where your great strength lies, and with what you may be bound to afflict you.”

– Judges 16.6 

You probably know the rest of the story, but this was the beginning of his downfall, for she would use it against him because the five lords of the Philistines, her people, promised that each of them would give her 1,100 pieces of silver if she could find the source of his strength. 

She could not resist getting rich quick, even if it meant revealing the secret of the one she supposedly loved. The love of money has destroyed countless souls.
