New Testament: Luke 12.25–26
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 12.1–34 on April 9, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023
By Don Ruhl
Do you worry? How much good has it done you? Jesus presented us with some questions about worry that show its powerlessness:
“And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?”
– Luke 12.25–26
Worrying does not add any height to our stature and we know it. Why then do we do it? Perhaps we think that it shows we care or that it shows we know how grievous a situation is. Yet, Jesus reasoned that if we cannot add to our height by worrying, which He considered a task less than other things, we certainly cannot worry food or clothing into our lives or anything else larger.
Questions:
- Why do you think we worry?
- Does worrying make you feel better or worse?
