Old Testament: 2Sa 24.2
To read the Bible in a year, read Second Samuel 23–24 on April 30, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023

We know of David’s sin with Bathsheba and against her husband Uriah, but David committed another great sin, and this one affected the whole nation:
So the king said to Joab the commander of the army who was with him, “Now go throughout all the tribes of Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, and count the people, that I may know the number of the people.”
– 2 Samuel 24.2
David sought to know how strong he was by finding out the size of his army rather than seeing the Lord God Almighty as his strength. As a result, the Lord took the lives of 70,000 warriors among the children of Israel (for they had committed their own sin and died for that also).
What we do in life affects other people. Therefore, we should keep our eyes on the Lord always that we might always remember he is the strength of lives.
Questions:
- Who is your strength?
- Can you find Dan and Beersheba on a map?
