New Testament: Col 2.2–3
To read the Bible in a year, read Colossians 2 on October 10, In the year of our Lord Christ 2024
By Don Ruhl
Paul wanted the Colossian Christians to know that he suffered greatly for them (Colossians 2.1). Why would a preacher suffer for a congregation? I can guarantee you that your preacher suffers things for your sake. Why is he willing to suffer for you?
Paul revealed to the Colossians that he suffered for them, “that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2.2–3).
He suffered, and your preacher suffers, because they want your hearts to be encouraged by being knit together in love, and by having the assurance that comes from having an understanding heart, and that you might know the Father and the Son, because in them you can find all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Preachers find that those things are worth suffering for the sake of the people to whom they minister.
Questions:
- Are you aware of the work that your preacher puts into building up your congregation?
- Are you willing to suffer for the sake of your fellow Christians?
