06.27.2015 Old Testament: Job 11.5–6
To read the Bible in a year, read Job 10–12 on June 27, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
Zophar persuaded himself that he held the correct position in his debate with Job, and that Job had committed some great sin, leading Zophar to have the audacity to say,
“But oh, that God would speak,
And open His lips against you,
That He would show you the secrets of wisdom!
For they would double your prudence.
Know therefore that God exacts from you
Less than your iniquity deserves.”
Zophar just knew that God would take his side, but the man was in for a huge surprise, for the God of heaven would appear and rebuke Job, probably persuading Zophar that he was right, but then the Lord turned His attention toward Zophar and his friends, and they got it worse than Job did.
Be slow to think that God will do what you think should be done, for He is not our servant, but we serve Him.
