Sometimes harsh treatment leads to the knowledge of God

Ezekiel Bible Background

11.22.2015 Old Testament: Eze 28.20–23

To read the Bible in a year, read Ezekiel 27–28 on November 22, In the year of our Lord 2015

By Don Ruhl

Sidon denied the Lord, but they needed to know the one and true living God, our Lord. However, Sidon would not learn it in anyway, except through utter defeat and the wiping out of their civilization,

Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
“Son of man, set your face toward Sidon, and prophesy against her,
and say, Thus says the Lord God:
‘Behold, I am against you, O Sidon;
I will be glorified in your midst;
And they shall know that I am the Lord,
When I execute judgments in her and am hallowed in her.
For I will send pestilence upon her,
And blood in her streets;
The wounded shall be judged in her midst
By the sword against her on every side;
Then they shall know that I am the Lord.’”
(Ezekiel 28.20–23)

Any nation that denies the Lord shall eventually come to an end, just as every nation in the past has, that has denied the true and living God.
