The children of Israel asked for a king, and the Bible says,

So Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who asked him for a king (1 Samuel 8.10).

Samuel, as a faithful judge and prophet, spoke all the words of the Lord to the people about their request, and Samuel did not hold back, but showed them that they would regret asking for a king.

The Books of the Kings and Chronicles show that the kings proved to be Israel’s problem, and truly, the governments of men tend to be more of a problem for mankind than a solution.

Questions:

  • Does your faith in the Lord or in the governments of men?
