08.01.2016 – Old Testament: Psa 66.8–12
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 65–67 on August 1, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
How have you managed to make it to today? You have endured difficult times and tests, but somehow you made it to today. Perhaps Psalm 66 will show you what has happened in your life,
Oh, bless our God, you peoples!
And make the voice of His praise to be heard,
Who keeps our soul among the living,
And does not allow our feet to be moved.
For You, O God, have tested us;
You have refined us as silver is refined.
You brought us into the net;
You laid affliction on our backs.
You have caused men to ride over our heads;
We went through fire and through water;
But You brought us out to rich fulfillment.
The psalmist told us to bless God, because He kept us among the living, and He did not allow our feet to be moved. During those times, He tested us, laying affliction on our backs, causing others to ride over us, making us pass through fire and water, but the psalmist confessed that God brought us out of it all that we might have a rich fulfillment in our lives.
- Do you bless God for bringing you through your troubles?
- How often do you thank and praise Him?
