08.08.2016 – Old Testament: Psa 82.0–4
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 82–84 on August 8, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
Asaph reminded the judges in the land that God stood among them. Therefore, Asaph wanted to know how long they would pervert justice,
A Psalm of Asaph.
God stands in the congregation of the mighty;
He judges among the gods.
How long will you judge unjustly,
And show partiality to the wicked?
Selah
Defend the poor and fatherless;
Do justice to the afflicted and needy.
Deliver the poor and needy;
Free them from the hand of the wicked.
(Psalm 82.0–4)
God expects judges to do certain jobs, and if they do not do them, He sees it and calls them to account. However, that is not only true of judges, but of all of us. Are we doing what we are supposed to be doing?
Questions:
- Were you aware of this teaching on judges before reading it today?
- How would things go in a nation, if the judges knew this teaching?
