Psalms Bible Background

08.27.2016 Old Testament: Psa 132.10–12

To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 132–135 on August 27, In the year of our Lord 2016

By Don Ruhl

The Lord made a promise to David, but would the Lord keep His promise? The psalmist asked of the Lord,

For Your servant David’s sake,
Do not turn away the face of Your Anointed.
(Psalm 132.10)

The psalmist received an answer from the Lord, and the rest of the Bible shows that the Lord answered truthfully,

The Lord has sworn in truth to David;
He will not turn from it:
“I will set upon your throne the fruit of your body.
If your sons will keep My covenant
And My testimony which I shall teach them,
Their sons also shall sit upon your throne forevermore.”
(Psalm 132.11–12)

The Lord kept His promise to David, giving the world Jesus of Nazareth to sit on the throne of David, and that means the Lord kept His promise to us, saving us through Jesus.
